NWD's Oomaw GIN Brings Home More Awards

NEW WORLD DISTILLERY Oomaw Gin BRINGS HOME ADDITIONAL MEDALS Oomaw Gin Receives International Spirits Competition Medals

EDEN, UT, April 22, 2017 — On the heals of being awarded a Bronze Medal by the American Craft Spirits Association in January, only one month after opening the distillery to the public, New World Distillery’s site distilled Oomaw Gin brings home the bronze again. Both the Denver International Spirits Competition was well as the prestigious 17th Annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition have awarded the juniper-forward, botanical-distilled gin additional acco- lades.

Founder, Ashley Cross states that New World Distillery is very particular in choosing the spirits competitions they enter and that decision is based on the degree to which the competitions are vetted as well as the type and number of spirits categories represented in each competition. Cross made the decision to not enter their gin in the spirits evaluation portion of the Denver competition because she did not feel that the categories reflected the level of competitiveness that would warrant participation. “This isn’t a feel good soccer team. We are a business and we don’t need accolades that we don’t respect.” She did, however, feel confident about the judges involved in the Design and Packaging portion of the International competition so she entered the gin in that category alone and earned a second medal for their site-distilled Oomaw Gin in the category of Single Bottle Winners, Classic Design.

The artist responsible for the extremely popular dragonfly image that adorns the Oomaw Gin bottle is a local resident of Salt Lake City named Tyler Davis. He is also the artist behind New World Distillery’s compass logo as well as the Mayahuel Goddess on the Agave Spirits bottles. He is currently working to finalize the label that the distillery will use for all of their One-Off, Spe- cial Edition Releases and Single Barrel Releases.

“The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is one of the most prestigious in the world, and we could not be happier to showcase our Oomaw Gin and the Ogden Valley.”

In a blind tasting, 43 judges evaluated more than 2,100 entries and selected New World Dis- tillery’s Oomaw Gin to receive a Bronze Medal from the San Francisco World Spirits Competi- tion. All award-winning entries will by listed on the SFWSC website by May 15.
